Little Boys

I think the saying usually goes "Snips and snails and puppy dog tails", but when we are talking about what MY little boys are made of.........it's a little more "Poop and cooties and shakin' their booties".

Not usually a subject of choice, poop has made quite an entrance into our everyday life-thnaks to our little Mr. Drake. He is fascinated with the word.......and man, I hope it's just a phase! He calls anything by his new favorite word....food, people, clothes, furniture...ANYTHING. Not always a great idea when we are in public-sometimes a little insulting. I've become used to answering to "Poop", but to strangers it isn't exactly the greeting you expect! We'll see how long this lasts, until then please don't be offended if you or someone you love is referred to as the cringing word that graces my sons lips more often than any other in the English dictionary....actually, I've come to think that to him-it may just be a compliment!

As far as cooties go, Deacon is big into the Cootie Monster. He loves to run and hide from it and to make people think it's after them! They are ALL boy, no doubt about it!

Now, for shakin' their booty........that's a family favorite! The boys will light up with dance and song ANY time music is playing. It's very entertaining, to say the least. Music is definitely at the top of the list of their favorites!

As for me, I am so excited about this nice weather! For me it means letting the boys out to burn an overload of energy. It also means being able to go for walks and bike rides with my family, as well as ice cream runs at our favorite local place-"The Frosty Udder". A brand new excitement due to nice weather this year is camping season! We bought our first camper a few months ago and can hardly wait to get it ready to go! It's just a small pull-behind, perfectly accomodating for our little family! I don't foresee us having an open weekend for the next 6 months that we aren't out at a lake or site somewhere! Of course, David is super excited to get his boys out there and enjoy nature- camping, fires, fishing, not showering, and peeing in the bushes!

Thanks again for looking into the lives of our Chaotic Cox Crew! Until next time, God Bless you and yours!

March Madness!

As I begin the new process of blogging, we are at a very busy/crazy point in our lives. I'm hoping through the blog process we can share some of our joy, a little of our laughter, and maybe even a bit of our sorrow.

March has began as a very hectic month for our family. As many of you know, 2 days ago we laid to rest the "Rock" of our family. My grandfather had become increasingly ill over the last few years, and especially in the last couple of weeks. He was an amazing man, and will be missed more than many can imagine. When I refer to him as my grandpa, I feel like that isn't enough of a credit to him. We had the priveledge of being raised by him, so really calling him a father is much more appropriate. Grandpa worked his whole life helping others-whether it be family, friends, neighbors, or just his community in general. I don't want to spend too much time on the subject, but want to give him all the credit he deserves.
My husband loves the scripture that says, "We do not grieve as they who have no hope."
This is incredibly true at this time. I'm extremely emotional and definitely a "Grandpa's Girl", but the visitation and funeral wasn't quite as hard one me from a visual standpoint as many would have imagined. Seeing my grandpa at peace also brought a peace to me. It had become very hard to see him struggling the last few days he was with us. To know that he is well is almost a relief, to know that he will from now on be in his forever home free of any suffering or hurt is a true comfort. Less than 12 hours before his passing, David and I were at his bedside. We each took a hand a prayed. We prayed separately, but for the very same thing. Not for a specific outcome, but rather for healing. We prayed for the comfort and betterment of the man we so loved. Now, I would love for him to have been granted a miracle and to be with us-laughing, calling us names, and playing with my kids. But in this instance that wasn't possible, our prayers didn't go unanswered though. They were answered, just with a little different outcome-one that will guarantee that he will never have to be in that postition agian.
Grandpa had an amazing farewell service! Many attended visitation, flowers and plants surrounded his casket, many memorial donations were made, and we heard many good stories of his life. We had tremendous support from friends and family, we could never thank everyone enough for what they have done for our family at this time. Between that mentioned above, food that was brought, and all the thoughts and prayers that surrounded us-we have no doubt of how blessed we really are-thank you to all that played a part in that. Grandpa's funeral was also a very honorable display of his life's worth. Our cousin's husband was the officiating Pastor for the event, and we couldn't have imagined a better, more personal speaker. Grandpa's Final Ride to the cemetery was taken on the back of one of the Moulton Fire Engines, nothing more suitable for the former Fire Chief of the small town! He would have been very proud of every aspect of his memorial time.

On to more events, I turned 26 this month. We had a great girl's night out to celebrate. Getting older hasn't phased me (yet), so no big stories of breakdowns or anything of the sort.

Tonight, however, may bring a small breakdown! Our oldest, Deacon, will be starting in a 3-yr-old preschool in the fall and tonight is the registration. Against my best efforts to keep my babies little, they are growing up! This will be much harder on me than him-he is more than prepared and it will be so good for him to have that little getaway to spend away from mom and little brother twice a week. We'll make it through, there just may be a few tears shed along the way!

To all reading this, thank you for letting a little of our lives into your day! Have a blessed day!

Love, The Cox Crew
